A Nature Lover's Dream Place It is so peaceful and quiet at Rainbow Hearth Sanctuary. I love listening to the lapping of the lake against the shore under one of the lakeside shelters or sitting on the rocks. I often see big fish swimming near the surface, blue herons fishing & vultures riding the wind currents. A walk up the hill leads to another beautiful view of the lake and to the ancient meditative Medicine Rock, which houses items & prayers left by visitors. The rooms are spotlessly clean and big! What a treat not to have to cook but to be served delicious, healthy food. This is my favorite Texas place to get away and unwind. P.S. Don't miss watching the colorful sunset and seeing more stars than I ever see in the city.

Best couples retreat place ever. My wife and I had the most relaxing time. Great food, great host, beautiful scenery. If you are wanting to de-stress, enjoy nature, and get the best massage of your life, then look no further. Mariah is a real treasure and she has created the best atmosphere you can imagine. Bella (photo) is one of the sweetest dogs ever and loved going on hikes with us. Also, Medicine Rock (photo) is a very special place. This was the first of many trips for us to this enchanted sanctuary.

This place is a gem in the Hill Country! Highly recommend to anyone looking to getaway and fully recharge. Rainbow is for stepping out of the stresses of everyday life and entering into a healing space that is quiet and allows for connection to Nature, yourself and/or a partner or friend(s). I’ve been in all 5 rooms. There are no TVs, just beautiful views from the decks of each cottage or suite. I Love the fact that there are limited suites as it creates a much more intimate experience. I like that I can connect w other guests if I choose or I can be secluded if I desire time for contemplation and reflection. There are shaded hiking trails, free growing vegetation and fruit trees bearing fruit in Spring! A true homage to re-wilding that is so rare to see these days. Beautiful views of Lake Buchanan can be seen from the top of Medicine Rock. A magical space for sure. The rooms are clean, comfortable and the food is healthy and delicious. It’s also pet friendly, so that is a huge bonus!

The sheer serenity and calm relaxing environment of Rainbow Hearth Sanctuary is cannot be better. And, the healing therapeutic techniques used by Mariah Wentworth, during Bodywork are unsurpassed. They also serve delicious food which is good for you. I could not have asked for a better experience! It's a great place for a romantic getaway, time alone for yourself or to take your family and do some hiking, sightseeing, boating, or just sitting and taking in the beautiful sights from the top of Medicine Rock Mountain which is on the grounds at the highest point with panoramic views of Lake Buchanan.

Life Unplugged For my 65th birthday, I was looking for somewhere to go for a few days that would allow my SO and me to totally unplug from our stress-filled jobs. Rainbow Hearth Sanctuary and Retreat Center was and is that place. From the moment we arrived and Scott walked us up the stone steps to the Garden Cottage through a "kaleidoscope" of butterflies and on a tour of our "sleep away camp for grownups", we could feel our shoulders relax and a sense of peacefulness begin to set in. It was absolutely more beautiful and relaxing than we could have imagined. Mariah, the proprietor, set the tone for our long weekend with her unparalleled hospitality and amazingly sweet disposition, making certain all understood, the goal was to leave Rainbow Hearth more relaxed and in touch with ourselves and our spirits than when we arrived. I told her at breakfast on our 2nd day, I'd dreamed for the first time in months...an indication of exactly HOW relaxed I'd become. The "magic" of Rainbow Hearth worked wonders. From the delicious organic meals to the amazing Body Work massages to hikes up to Medicine Rock and down to Lake Buchanan to the Hot Tub...well, I could go on and on about this paradise in the Texas Hill Country, but you really need to experience it for yourself. We're already planning our return!

Gorgeous Views, Wonderful Retreat I chose Rainbow Hearth hoping for a peaceful stay and bonding time with my pups. I gained so much more than relaxation. Having no intruding technology, quiet time to reflect, and getting to spend time with Mariah from the body work to conversation was so healing. I could feel myself changing, getting back to my personal place of power, once again owning my journey and my choices. The time to reflect is invaluable and helps you put everything into perspective. I stayed at the Sunset cabin and it was wonderful, awesome views of the lake and the sunset. Very clean and well cared for rooms. The meals are all healthy and delicious. We wandered trails every day, visited Medicine Rock and enjoyed the tranquility. I am planning another trip next year, it's a beautiful place!

Much more than a Bed and Breakfast Our Valentines weekend stay at Rainbow Hearth started when we pulled into the driveway and were greeted by friendly "Shadow" and "Sunshine" the resident 4 legged welcoming committee, followed by Scott the human caretaker. We stayed in Blue Heron suite with the wrap around deck, but had the opportunity to visit the other suites while they were empty. The yurt looked the most interesting, but we were very happy in Blue Heron. Arriving on Thurs., we basically had the place to ourselves and we enjoyed the spa each evening following delicious, nutritious breakfast and lunch and dinner. I highly recommend taking the meals package because the location is fairly remote, one would have to drive about 20-30 minutes to anything resembling a restaurant/cafe. Besides the location reason, the food was fantastic! We had bodywork done by Brenda and I highly recommend her. She worked out knots with hot rocks and other special techniques (not your typical massage, for sure). There are well marked trails for hiking to Medicine Rock, as well as down to the lakeshore where we caught 3 fish. On our final breakfast, we were offered an omelet made from a freshly laid goose egg. Simply wonderful! Rainbow Hearth is more than a Bed and Breakfast. It is a sanctuary, a retreat, a chance to see stars at night, and a place to enjoy the silence and beautiful scenery of the Texas hill country.

The yurt Awesome, amazing. My wife was in Burnet for work over the weekend which left me with a lot of time to fill. We stayed in the yurt and it was great. I was able to fill the day with things to do around the property and I did not even experience it all. Read the book in your room it gives you alot of inisight to what is available at the retreat. Also take the hike to Medicine rock from the property it is well worth it. I came back home and felt so much better. The meals are great and healthy. I would recommend the yurt during the cooler months. The bathhouse that comes with the yurt is a retreat all in its own.

A great place to get away from it all. Close enough to Austin yet far enough away. A fantastic drive to get there too. (For me, the best way to get here is 1431 to Marble Falls, with the requisite stop at Flat Creek Estate for refreshments, then up to Burnet and onward.) No TV, no clocks, no stress. There is Wifi so you're not completely cut off, but you'll find yourself off the net more than on. Sleeping in is encouraged. Probably not a great place for kids due to lack of TV. Activities within/around Burnet could help but really this place is for the "Big Kids" to unwind/reset. We stayed in the Sky Loft; lots of room, best views, nice little patio for nighttime star viewing, great breezes. We looked at all the other rooms too; they all are nice. The accommodations aren't 5 star NYC type, but nice and relaxing. The food is simple but tasty. Majority is organic products. Mariah grows her own sprouts/microgreens for the salads and they are wonderful. The meals were customized per our requests, based on what she had on hand, which is a great touch. The bodywork. You must have the bodywork. I'm not sure how else to describe it. Just get it. Mariah has a great touch and the power tools are the bomb. (It was my first massage, but I've developed a new addiction I think. And guys, if you've never had one, Mariah is probably the best person to start with; very calm/trustworthy. Don't worry about having your Man Card pulled or your hairy back.) The grounds are great. There is a nice little hike up to medicine rock as well as down to the lake. No flip flops though; you need something sturdier. We loved hearing the lake water lapping on the rocks and the wind chimes that are scattered across the grounds. Can't wait to go back.

Healing Retreat If you are looking for a cozy, comfortable, healing, unique getaway...this is an amazing place. I was looking for an opportunity to get away, be alone in nature (but not so alone someone couldn't make me meals :) and a place for contemplation. What I found was an amazing, comfortable, quiet healing retreat. Proprietor Mariah was the perfect hostess: knowledgeable, kind, accommodating to a restricted diet, an amazing cook and by far the best body worker I've ever experienced. The beautiful decks, the cozy garden patios, the gorgeous whirlpool (one of my favorite parts -- laying under the skylight, looking up at the blue sky and clouds in a great, private atrium after a 90 minute bodywork session), the hikes up to a healing "medicine rock" on the property, the 2 cats and sweet dog, the all-organic meals - all add to the magical, funky, spiritual charm of the place. I plan to come back at least once a year...maybe more!

Enjoyed Living in the Moment! This is not your standard recreation playground. It is close to the water recreations sites; unfortunately, the drought makes it difficult to enjoy much of that; but, that is not why my husband and I visited Rainbow Hearth. It is just what we were looking for, a place to replenish the body and the psyche. Mariah offers thoughtful and effective bodywork that leaves the body energized, feeling almost re-built. She reads people well, both their physical and emotional makeup, and designs their treatment accordingly. Lodging is comfortable and cozy, with sizes ranged for singles, for couples, for families. The food is simply delicious. Mariah’s omelets are to die for. Her sprouts-based salad bar is a meal in itself and is quite addictive. Even the water is delicious.(I’m not kidding about that.) It is important to tell her if you have any special dietary needs. She took our needs into account when creating the daily menu. Her team includes Sunny, Choco, and Nugsy, three of the most wonderful animals you will have the privilege to meet, and who know what their specific duties entail. They do their jobs very well. My husband and I left feeling relaxed and healthier than we’ve felt in years, and knowing that we will be back in a few months for a refresher. And, oh yes, climb to the top of Medicine Rock, but wait until you get to the top before you turn around to see a spectacular view of the Lake.

Mariah Wentworth at Rainbow Hearth Sanctuary makes this A Retreat Tradition! From the easy to follow directions that I downloaded from her website, to being greeted by Mariah, the owner, when we pulled in and asked, 'What do I need to make the most of my visit', I was already unwinding, knowing I was going to be taken care of. Our bedroom, The Sky Loft, had an endless view of the lake. The hawks circling above only gave us another sign that healing was on its way. The beds were soft, the towels thick and her special drinking water was available immediately. Her home grown organic salads fueled us for the rest of the journey on her grounds: a walk to the lake, a personal ceremony at the medicine rock but the best yet a massage from Mariah and a soak in the hot tub that shook out the old scars and tensions from the school work year and welcome the new beginnings of the summer. I'm grateful to my friend and her husband, who found this sacred place!
