Healing & transformational experience I recently attended a retreat at Rainbow Hearth, and it was a transformative experience. Mariah, the founder, exudes a nurturing and safe energy, making her feel like a grandmother figure. Her genuine care and wisdom were instrumental in my healing process. I arrived feeling burnt out and disconnected from my higher purpose, but the serene and peaceful grounds of Rainbow Hearth provided the perfect environment for rejuvenation. The nourishing meals were a highlight, supporting both physical and spiritual well-being. By the end of my stay, I felt hopeful for the future and more connected to myself and my higher power. Rainbow Hearth is a sanctuary of healing and reflection, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking renewal and growth.Posted on Google![]()

We have visited Rainbow Hearth 3 times since 2022 and we will be coming back as often as we can. Mariah is amazing and provides the space and to rest, relax and unwind from busy schedules. We highly recommend a massage and staying at least three days to really absorb the full benefits of being nourished and rested. I am gluten free and non dairy and I have not had any issues with the food Mariah prepares because she personally takes an individual interest in each guest’s needs. It is such a comfort to know that I can eat and NOT have any digestive issues while I rest. Another plus is we are able to bring our dogs instead of having to board them or find pet care. Our dogs are very well behaved and they are a joy to have with us. I would recommend finding other plans for your pups if they are lively or not well trained because this is a place for rest and not dog training. The other guests will thank you for keeping this a peaceful location as it is intended to be. We also got to snuggle with Mariah’s sweet pup Bella, who is just a lovely little soul that just adds to the charm of Rainbow Hearth.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

A Nature Lover's Dream Place It is so peaceful and quiet at Rainbow Hearth Sanctuary. I love listening to the lapping of the lake against the shore under one of the lakeside shelters or sitting on the rocks. I often see big fish swimming near the surface, blue herons fishing & vultures riding the wind currents. A walk up the hill leads to another beautiful view of the lake and to the ancient meditative Medicine Rock, which houses items & prayers left by visitors. The rooms are spotlessly clean and big! What a treat not to have to cook but to be served delicious, healthy food. This is my favorite Texas place to get away and unwind. P.S. Don't miss watching the colorful sunset and seeing more stars than I ever see in the city.Posted on Google![]()

For three days I got to leave the stress behind and just BE. Mariah made sure everything was just what I needed. The silence, the woods, the healthy food, and nothing at all needing me to do it! I fell in love with Mariah's lap dog, Bella, and had a few very illuminating conversations with gems of wisdom from Mariah. Thank you!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

This place is magical, beautiful, special! I loved staying there. It helped me recharge and find hope. I received two massages from Mariah (who is absolutely delightful, and so knowledgable). The food was delicious and helped me feel full and healthy. This place is great to go with your friends, your spouse, and even by yourself! You will not regret it. Thank you Mariah for being so gracious and kind to me.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Peaceful, magical get-away! This was my third stay at Rainbow Hearth and first time to bring my college-age daughter with me for a little mother/daughter get away. Rainbow Hearth is my go to place to rest, recharge and take a break from the real world and I was excited to share this special place with my daughter. As always, Mariah is a perfect hostess and everything was beyond expectations. We stayed in the Sunset Guest House and it was clean, comfortable and had extraordinary views from the windows and porch. Food was delicious, healthy and filling. The hot tub is fabulous. Weather was beautiful for hiking and exploring. My favorite part of our stay was the body work. Mariah is a truly gifted healer and her massages are the best I’ve ever experienced. There is a sense of peacefulness from the moment you step onto the property, and a warm, welcoming aura that envelopes you throughout your stay. It’s magical, really, and I’ll definitely come back again.Posted on Google![]()

Enjoyed my stay with Mariah. If you're looking to get away and escape this is the place. Beautiful lake views and hiking. If you don't plan on eating there, the closest place to get food is about 20 mins away and is cash only. It was a great escape from life and the view in the sunset guest house was beautiful! I'd love to go back with my husband!Posted on Google![]()

Most relaxing retreat with best food and accommodations! I found out about this retreat from my local Health Food Store owner and decided to invite my friends for our annual get together. It was the best place for us 3! We only spent one full day there, arriving on Friday late afternoon/evening and leaving Sunday morning. Mariah was a delight the whole time! Very accommodating and informational. The first thing we noticed in our room was no tv!!! This was a major plus for us as we just wanted to visit and unwind. Friday we spent just walking down to the lake and sitting in the screened in porch watching activities in and on the lake. Then spent hours talking in the room enjoying a cup of hot tea with all the set up in the room including the awesome rain water provided. We all slept great in the sleep number beds provided in the Sunset room. Oh and we captured some beautiful pictures of the Sunset! Saturday morning was spent on the deck at the table and chairs listening to all the awesome birds. We were tuned in on our bird (Merlin) app to detect the sounds and found there were so many different birds… what a peaceful treasure! We then went to have breakfast in the dining room and a hike on the trails. We had lunch and supper in the dining room as well! The food was fantastic! All healthy and very tasty! We got up Sunday morning (our day to check out) had breakfast and an amazing chocolate treat made by Mariah like you have NEVER tasted before! We interacted in conversation at the meals with another couple staying there and Mariah with conversation and had a most relaxing and delightful time! I highly recommend this retreat if you are wanting to revamp and unwind from the hustle and bustle of every day life! You will not regret it! As a matter of fact my friends and I are planning our 2024 trip back to this retreat for a peaceful escape! We are happy we found it!! Thank you Sharon @ Hill County Health Store Marble Falls!!! And Thank you Mariah!!!Posted on Google![]()

Best couples retreat place ever. My wife and I had the most relaxing time. Great food, great host, beautiful scenery. If you are wanting to de-stress, enjoy nature, and get the best massage of your life, then look no further. Mariah is a real treasure and she has created the best atmosphere you can imagine. Bella (photo) is one of the sweetest dogs ever and loved going on hikes with us. Also, Medicine Rock (photo) is a very special place. This was the first of many trips for us to this enchanted sanctuary.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Best food; comfortable bed; great views; pampered trip!! Mariah has a gift of pamper! I'm picky but she is one of the best cooks I've met. The micro green salads were so good, I bought all my own equipment to get started at my home. I stayed in the sky loft and the bed was so comfy especially after Spider Mtn. The Jacuzzi was perfect, not too hot. The fish were jumping like crazy right below her place; wish I had taken my rod. Views were amazing and there were benches nestled into the hillside in several places that I stopped for reading and meditation.Posted on Google![]()

Family gathering for the weekend was very satisfying. We were well prepared for the experience as the website and communications were well designed and delivered. I have had the privilege of visiting several B&B over the past few years and I believe our visit with Rainbow Hearth was the most exceptional. The facility location and design will provide opportunity to exercise muscles you may not have even realized you pocess. This is as close to a Natural retreat as I have ever experienced without backwoods camping. Meals served were very tasty, I recommend you try the omelet for breakfast. Our group included a limited mobility guest and Mariah was exceptionably accommodating. We always enjoy the ability to vacation with our four legged family members, not always easy to find a location that will allow this so thank you so much Mariah! Massage was requested for one of the family members who found the experience satisfying as well as enlightening as Mariah located knots of pressure before unknown. Tips for visitors: 1. This is a Sanctuary & Retreat - Entertainment can be very easily located; we enjoyed many hikes and the views are spectacular. We played games for hours in the dining room. We did not miss the televisions. If you wish to exercise your own mental capacity and simply relax, visit Rainbow Hearth. The architecture of the facility and library can also provide mental exercise, a great variety. If you wish to be pampered, I would suggest locating resort that specializes in this activity. 2. There is refrigeration available for those with medical needs, limited space. A simple discussion with Mariah will provide solutions. We brought our own coolers as well. 3. I shared the meal plan with our guest prior to our stay, if you have picky eaters you may need to find other sources. I can say with all our picky eaters, no one was left hungry after a meal. Meals were well prepared, quite tasty and I had no doubts that we were fed Healthy meals. 4. After reading a couple of the negative reviews I want to add something here. I found Mariah to be an intelligent, no nonsense hostess. I felt that she was pleasant to converse with and active listening to be a key skill to exercise. My experience is that she will help you find solutions to your Needs for the stay if properly presented. Rooms were very clean, orderly and provided for all our needs. Beds were "Sleep Number" and therefore adjustable to most sleeper requirements.Posted on Yelp![]()

We've been twice. This is a place that encourages you to disconnect from technology, eat clean, hike and sit in nature. The food is organic, simple, and flavorful. Salmon, chicken, or cod are common lunch and dinner options. A small omelet or smoothie at breakfast. Lunch and supper will likely be accompanied by a fresh microgreen salad grown on site with a variety of toppings: jicama, tomato, onion, peppers, carrots, sunflower seeds, almonds, raisins, craisins, and 6 or more organic salad dressings. There is usually a rice and quinoa side, a vegetable (sweet potato, cauliflower and brussel sprouts), and some kind of soup (lentil dollah, blackbean). Snacks of yogurt, granola, apples, oranges, bananas, three kinds of toast, almond butter, and jellies and popcorn available 24 hours a day. My husband loved the massage--he likes deep tissue--I found it overwhelming but prefer light Swedish massage and a shorter massage. I did feel better the next day. On property hikes are short, but have lot of vertical challenges and there are many quiet places that encourage you to just be still and absorb nature. We visited about ten years apart and both times were great. We stayed in the Blue Heron and it looks brand new (Dec 2022). We plan to go again. There are also many other hiking areas near by. The food is served family style and caters to vegetarian/nutrient dense eating. Think more meditation hippy than yuppie experience. It is a place to focus on health and healing, not pampering and catering to whims. Sleep number beds, big fluffy towels, organic soaps and hair products. The 35 pictures that were available December 2022 are representative of the experience we had this month.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Decompress and reconnect with solitude You can choose to eat meals onsite for an additional charge or eat at the restaurants in town. On site meals will be healthy, organic, and nutritious and are served more family style (not individual plating or individual ordering). Salad, soup, a vegetable, and a protein. Each of the rooms are away from the others and encourage quiet introspection. Sleep number beds, fluffy towels, sitting areas with view NO television. The trails are short, beautiful, and vertically challenging. There are many seating areas to encourage you to be still, breath, and reflect. When we were there meals were served at 9ish, 2ish and 7ish. It is the type of place where waking up early and walking down to the screened in porch the near the lake to do yoga at sunrise would be encouraged. It is a great place to go with friends that you want to sit and reconnect with. It encourages you to put your cell phone and all of that in a drawer and just be present in the moment--sleep, peace, and solitue. A healing place. (We have been twice ten years apart and both times were amazing).Posted on Yelp![]()

I chose Rainbow Hearth for my second solo retreat in as many years. I spent 6 nights in the Sky Loft room during late April and it was a beautiful accommodation with a great view of the lake. My stay gave me the opportunity to disengage from the requirements of my life and to quiet down. I was nourished with good food and my only responsibility was to show up for regular meals. Mariah and her husband have continuously added to the Sanctuary during the 40+ years since they bought the land. Everything is very well maintained and full of small details throughout the property that add to the charm. It is obvious how much of their lives have been invested in growing such a health oriented space. I started with a massage to work out some of the tension that I arrived with and took a couple of visits to the really beautiful Jacuzzi room. Afternoons down by the water reading as the sun set and watching the fish at the shore line was a great way to unwind. The quiet time was beneficial in helping me reflect on the changes in my life with semi-retirement and where I might apply my energy moving forward.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Retreat of the Best Kind! A friend extended a last minute invite to decompress & get away from the city. This property offered all that and more! Situated at Lake Buchanan in the Hill Country this cozy & exceptionally clean property did not dissapoint. No televisions, clocks or radio's allow you to relax and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. My friend and I weren't able to take advantage of the inclusive meals due to other planned activities except one dinner and one breakfast. Healthful & delicious, I doubt many restaurants can even compare to the delightful 5 course meal we enjoyed. There is much to do on property, swimming, fishing, kayaking & hiking at your doorstep. Though we didn't plan for a massage, everyone we met said that Mariah's massages are the best that can be found. We enjoyed a nearby winery & about an hour drive to Fredricksburg for fresh peaches & a little shopping there is much to do nearby but take my advice and unplug and be pampered at this lovely escape! We are already planning a return trip with all of our best friends who deserve a break from the ratrace! I think Mariah's chocolates are the best kept secret, if you get one for dessert consider it a very lucky day! I look very forward to returning soon!~Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

FABULOUS place! Would HIGHLY recommend! Much love and care went into the creation of this wonderful space. My room was beautiful! The use of natural light and view out of my windows was spectacular. Even the bed sheets were picked with care as they were extremely soft. The meals were delicious and organic. The atmosphere for dinner was great as the tables were set, the lights were lowered, soft music played and a candle was on each table. No clocks or TV's anywhere. Amazing Getaway From Austin I stayed at the retreat the second weekend in January and had a fantastic experience. I was looking to get out of town away from work and the family for a weekend to do a little meditation and just generally relax. I stayed in the yurt and had all of my meals there. Mariah was a wonderful host. Her food was great and made with healthy ingredients, some of which were actually grown on the property. I also scheduled a body work session that was a unique massage that incorporates some cool breathing exercises with it. Its not a typical massage, but in a good way. There is a very large jacuzzi in the spa that compliments the body work session well. The property itself is located right on the lake and built up a hillside that is nicely landscaped and peppered with pine trees that were planted years ago. This made for a really great sound as the wind was blowing through. The yurt was very large and clean and stayed warm despite the cold weather outside. There is also a private bath house with a large 2 person soaking tub. The king size Sleep Number bed is also a really nice touch. The property was very quiet so it was great for meditation and any other activity where a quiet environment is ideal. I am already looking forward to my next visit. Although I was solo, it would also be ideal for a romantic weekend. I couldn't recommend it more highly!Posted on Yelp![]()

I went on a solo retreat with my dog for a few days. This place is magical and surreal. Mariah and her adorable dog took care of me during my stay. She made delicious home-cooked vegetarian meals for me and suggested several places for me and my dog to hike. Now, if you expect internet access, you're not going to have a strong service here. Most of the area have little to no service, but that's what one should expect when going on a retreat. If you need a place to recharge yourself and relax from the hustle and bustle, try this place! The location is a bit confusing to find at first, but it gets easier to navigate the area once you've settled in. The views are breathtaking and I forget that I'm in Texas sometimes. There are state parks in the area and Canyon of the Eagles which is only about a mile away. This is a piece of paradise you don't want to miss out on.Posted on Yelp![]()

10 stars out of 5! Breathtaking view of Lake Buchanan, sunshine and singing birds in the morning, and beautiful scents of grapevines ALL from our room's window! Had a REAL relaxing retreat here. Peace, quiet and the positive vibes all throughout the place. The jacuzzi with the sun-roof with only the sounds of the waves and water trickling gently was amazing. The hike and run around the property then coming back to Mariah's home-cooked meals. Mariah was a great host and cook! Every food served were homemade with care and delish! I will definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants some 2-3 day peace and tranquility. A weekend getaway or recharge from the stressful busy-ness of everyday life. This place is a gem in the Hill Country! Highly recommend to anyone looking to getaway and fully recharge. Rainbow is for stepping out of the stresses of everyday life and entering into a healing space that is quiet and allows for connection to Nature, yourself and/or a partner or friend(s). I’ve been in all 5 rooms. There are no TVs, just beautiful views from the decks of each cottage or suite. I Love the fact that there are limited suites as it creates a much more intimate experience. I like that I can connect w other guests if I choose or I can be secluded if I desire time for contemplation and reflection. There are shaded hiking trails, free growing vegetation and fruit trees bearing fruit in Spring! A true homage to re-wilding that is so rare to see these days. Beautiful views of Lake Buchanan can be seen from the top of Medicine Rock. A magical space for sure. The rooms are clean, comfortable and the food is healthy and delicious. It’s also pet friendly, so that is a huge bonus!Posted on Google![]()

I had my second stay at Rainbow Heart in April 2019. It was a week of great healthy food, peace and quiet. This a lovely place out of the mainstream of traffic and noise. Each meal was like having your own private chef. The Sunset room is my favorite, even though all the room are excellent. I like that you are left alone during your stay without the staff having to enter your room. However, if there is something you need in your room they will immediately take care of it. I travel afar to find delightful places and who knew that a few hours away was this retreat. I don’t know if I just get beamed up to middle Earth or landed in the magical kingdom. In any event it is sublime here where I feel transported to somewhere transcendent, a sort of Santa Fe meets Big Sur atmosphere of Nature and nurture, with stupendous views and walking paths marked with multiple stops each with its own vantage point and seating. Everything is selected for comfort and soul nourishment, even the food, especially the unique salads that I won’t forget even if I can’t replicate. My problems seem to disappear upon arrival and my perspective changed. Not to be missed is the privilege of a massage from the owner Mariah, a wise woman and healer whose magic keeps this place moored, and I think that massage was the final thing that really delivered me to heaven. I have felt rejuvenated and restored from it like no other. This place really is a retreat for the soul! Those looking to party hearty need not apply. But I believe I will return to this place again and again —which in my mind now I will remember as the ‘Over the Rainbow ‘ Hearth Sanctuary and Retreat.Posted on Google![]()

Life Unplugged For my 65th birthday, I was looking for somewhere to go for a few days that would allow my SO and me to totally unplug from our stress-filled jobs. Rainbow Hearth Sanctuary and Retreat Center was and is that place. From the moment we arrived and Scott walked us up the stone steps to the Garden Cottage through a "kaleidoscope" of butterflies and on a tour of our "sleep away camp for grownups", we could feel our shoulders relax and a sense of peacefulness begin to set in. It was absolutely more beautiful and relaxing than we could have imagined. Mariah, the proprietor, set the tone for our long weekend with her unparalleled hospitality and amazingly sweet disposition, making certain all understood, the goal was to leave Rainbow Hearth more relaxed and in touch with ourselves and our spirits than when we arrived. I told her at breakfast on our 2nd day, I'd dreamed for the first time in months...an indication of exactly HOW relaxed I'd become. The "magic" of Rainbow Hearth worked wonders. From the delicious organic meals to the amazing Body Work massages to hikes up to Medicine Rock and down to Lake Buchanan to the Hot Tub...well, I could go on and on about this paradise in the Texas Hill Country, but you really need to experience it for yourself. We're already planning our return!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Gorgeous Views, Wonderful Retreat I chose Rainbow Hearth hoping for a peaceful stay and bonding time with my pups. I gained so much more than relaxation. Having no intruding technology, quiet time to reflect, and getting to spend time with Mariah from the body work to conversation was so healing. I could feel myself changing, getting back to my personal place of power, once again owning my journey and my choices. The time to reflect is invaluable and helps you put everything into perspective. I stayed at the Sunset cabin and it was wonderful, awesome views of the lake and the sunset. Very clean and well cared for rooms. The meals are all healthy and delicious. We wandered trails every day, visited Medicine Rock and enjoyed the tranquility. I am planning another trip next year, it's a beautiful place!Posted on Yelp![]()

Spent the weekend here and loved it! It was more beautiful and relaxing than I thought it would be. I loved waking up to the birds and falling asleep to the sound of crickets. There are chairs and swing sets all over the property and watching the sunsets and sunrises next to a wind chime is a must. We didn't do the meal plan but probably will next time. They are about 20-25 min from a restaurant and there is no fridge or microwave or kitchen in the room. Which wasn't a big deal but just wanted to give a heads up. Make sure you soak in the hot tub!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Very peaceful Mariah was very nice and friendly. Thanks for shared your beautiful home to us. Gorgeous lake view. We stayed at Blue herron room. Love the purple walls. Our daughter loves to explore the path in the property. I love to seat at the private porch read book and listen to birds singing with the lake view in front. Enjoyed the bodywork massage too. No TV but free wifi (happy face). The organic healthy meals made by owner Mariah was good. We didnt have to drive 30 mins to get food.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

A wonderful experience! Rainbow Hearth is much more than a usual spa/ retreat. Each cozy room is unique with homey touches and the lake views are spectacular. The body work is top of the line and specifically catered to your specific physical/emotional needs. The organic dishes are delicious - I just loved the specially prepared omelets and smoothies at breakfast. I felt so well looked after throughout my 5 day stay, and I definitely recommend a few days to really be able to wind down and soak it all up!Posted on Yelp![]()

We just returned from our 2 night stay, celebrating our 9 year anniversary. I am SO glad that we went to Rainbow Hearth. This is just what we needed to reconnect, relax, and enjoy serenity. Rainbow Hearth is located on about 10 acres on a large hill with waterfront to the lake. You can walk around on trails, take in scenic views, relax our on your deck, enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. Mariah cooked very tasty meals with very high quality organic ingredients, and some homegrown greens from her own garden. It is really difficult to find a hotel or retreat experience that actually uses the same type of food that we do in our own house. My wife and I each had bodywork sessions with Mariah, and they were exceptional. She is a truly gifted healer, with a wealth of knowledge about qigong, energy, pain points, and various physiological challenges. If you want to come and just be, recharge, be taken care of, this is the place. We will be returning again!Posted on Yelp![]()

We spent 2 nights in the Sky Loft and the accommodations were perfect. The meals were filling, healthy and delicious. Everyone was friendly and over the top helpful. We did the massages and they were wonderful as well. We plan to make this resort one of our regular weekend go to spots. Loved the peace and quite and serene setting. And bonus for us, it's dog friendly. If you are looking for a place to relax, unplug and just chill, this is it. Take a walk in the woods or down to the lake. Bring a book. Enjoy the fresh air. We loved it and we'll be back.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Special Place & Kind People Mariah was more than empathetic to our needs, and went out of her way to ensure our great stay. My husband & I wanted a reprieve from our stressful work lives involving computers & high-tech gadgets, so we came here for our anniversary. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by Mariah & Scott, who were both down-to-earth & friendly. We also met kindhearted Brenda, who gave us both bodywork. The massage really helped my husband, so he opted for an additional session. I could go on-and-on about how much we loved the staff, but I'll sum it up by saying that all of the raving reviews are absolutely true. If you love what was written on RH's website, and have an intuition that it's the place for you, follow your instinct - you won't be disappointed. There's a few things some folks should be conscious of before booking. The rest of this review is for you... Don't bring children unless they are well-behaved, respectful of adults & mindful of their surroundings. This isn't place for wild children. The vibe here is serene, calm, introspective...A place to tune in to the sound of wind against the cliffs, birds in the sky, the bullfrog in the pond...a place to read, take naps, sit by the water, gaze at the stars, meditate...If you're looking for a family fun adventure, maybe look elsewhere? (Read: Your "inside voice" even when you are outside, is an appropriate decibel level.) I love babies & kids, but don't appreciate it when the loud & obnoxious ones are unconscious of another's personal space, & that goes for adults, too. Know that many guests visit RH to escape from the abrasiveness of citylife, & don't want their peaceful stay sabotaged. Is your child polite? Mild mannered? Seldomly bored? Content to do nothing? Then, they would make for an excellent guest, & likely, so would you. The food, service, staff, accommodations, beds, amenities, spa room, scenic view, bodywork, etc. all receive 5 stars!!!!! Other notes: *The food is particularly great and everything your body needs...But, this review is written by a modern "hippie"ish woman, who loves the natural flavors of simple ingredients and organic cooking. There is plenty to eat - you won't leave the dining room hungry. *We brought our dog, who is young & easily excitable. He did well for the most part, but next time, I may not bring him, so that I can have one less distraction while I am there relaxing. *I brought way too much stuff. You don't need a hair dryer, makeup, or multiple changes of clothes. No one will be judging your appearance. *For ultimate restoration- Just stay on property the entire time. Don't try to squeeze in excursions, unless perhaps you are from out of state and want to see attractions. If you live in Austin or nearby, you can do the boat cruise & cave tour at any time. *If you want wine or junk food, bring it. You won't want to venture out for this stuff once you're settled in. If you can, avoid bringing it all together, as your body will benefit from a gentle cleanse. *Go during the cooler months when you can maximize your experience outdoors w/nature. It's Texas, after all, and we have ovenlike climate in the summer (even at night) & ruthless mosquitoes. Rainbow Hearth is doing everything right!!!!! Please don't spoil this paradise by coming here ill-researched and unaware.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Healing in serenity I travelled on my own and stayed in the Sky Loft room. It was immaculately clean as well as being simply and amply furnished. I particularly liked the communal dining arrangement. The food was fresh, vibrant and more than ample for me. Fresh fruit and other snacks were available all the time too. The vibe is easy going and accommodating but you need to ask for what you need. There was a deep healing energy about the whole place from the land to the vibe of the owner and staff. The two bodywork treatments were the best I have ever had. I was open to receiving the healing that Rainbow Hearth offered and I got it in abundance. I found it to really be a sanctuary and I left changed - in a really good way. My tip would be to visit the website and ask yourself does it FEEL right for you. If it does book it (fast), if not it's not for you (for now :)).Posted on Google![]()

This place is AMAZING! The drive in was beautiful, but we were admittedly a bit nervous about what to expect from something so far from "life". When we arrived and found our way to check in, our fears were all relieved. Everything was clean, updated, and refreshing! The owner showed us around the property and took us to our room. The view from our room was awesome, and the massage was heavenly! Everything is private, except the family style meals, which were ALL to die for! Everything was fresh, organic, and a lot she grew in her own garden. This is definitely the place to go if you're looking to disappear for a weekend and have amazing healthy meals. There are so many other great things to say about this place. It is definitely a place you should visit at least once!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Treehouse heaven We stayed in the treehouse yurt with the separate "outhouse" (Ha ha!) and it was wonderful. Very clean, comfortable, and secluded. The food was simple but delicious. The owner and staff were very friendly and accommodating. Near great hiking and wineries. You'll want to eat here because, yes, the hearth is a little remote to get anywhere else, but also because it's delicious and better than what you'll find anywhere nearby! We had a wonderfully relaxing weekend and would love to come back!Posted on Yelp![]()

Much more than a Bed and Breakfast Our Valentines weekend stay at Rainbow Hearth started when we pulled into the driveway and were greeted by friendly "Shadow" and "Sunshine" the resident 4 legged welcoming committee, followed by Scott the human caretaker. We stayed in Blue Heron suite with the wrap around deck, but had the opportunity to visit the other suites while they were empty. The yurt looked the most interesting, but we were very happy in Blue Heron. Arriving on Thurs., we basically had the place to ourselves and we enjoyed the spa each evening following delicious, nutritious breakfast and lunch and dinner. I highly recommend taking the meals package because the location is fairly remote, one would have to drive about 20-30 minutes to anything resembling a restaurant/cafe. Besides the location reason, the food was fantastic! We had bodywork done by Brenda and I highly recommend her. She worked out knots with hot rocks and other special techniques (not your typical massage, for sure). There are well marked trails for hiking to Medicine Rock, as well as down to the lakeshore where we caught 3 fish. On our final breakfast, we were offered an omelet made from a freshly laid goose egg. Simply wonderful! Rainbow Hearth is more than a Bed and Breakfast. It is a sanctuary, a retreat, a chance to see stars at night, and a place to enjoy the silence and beautiful scenery of the Texas hill country.Posted on Google![]()

We visited Rainbow Hearth Sanctuary for our 5th anniversary in mid-October. We stayed in the oh-so-fun tree house yurt. That's right a tree house yurt! Technically its a deck built up into the trees with the yurt on the deck and a separate bathroom with a walk in 2 person soaker tub and a skylight to the stars. We loved the accommodations obviously. My 6'7" husband fit no problem in the yurt, only had to duck his head to get in the door. The food was awesome, all cooked by the awesome Mariah- also the owner. We did not originally plan to meet all of our meals there, but it was so good, there was no reason to leave. Food is served family style, everyone eats the same thing, just let Mariah know if you can't have anything- the sprout salad is fabulous. The bodywork by both Mariah and Brenda was awesome, I felt safe and relaxed and they didn't feel the need to beat me up to loosen my muscles. Instead of the normal pain you feel after a massage when you were tense or tight, we actually came out feeling almost lightheaded we were so relaxed. Aaaand the next day no pain! This super cute place only has a few rooms so you know you are getting great attention while you are there. It is right on the mouth of the Colorado River, you can walk/hike down to the river. The water is way down, so its not very deep anywhere right now and there is a bit more of a hike to get to the water than it is to get to the boathouse. Coming to visit here was like coming to visit family, it was very welcoming, relaxing and just what we needed to get away from it all. This was our 1st trip away from our 1.5 year old, and we were happy and relaxed enough that we could not stress. This place is out in the middle of nowhere essentially, if you come here be prepared to relax and enjoy nature, you really will leave it all behind here. We loved it and hope to return sometime.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

I was able to fill the day with things to do around the property and I did not even experience it all. Read the book in your room it gives you alot of inisight to what is available at the retreat. Also take the hike to Medicine rock from the property it is well worth it. I came back home and felt so much better. The meals are great and healthy. It's a sanctuary, not a hotel If you come here expecting a hotel, with activities, amenities, and services, you're going to be disappointed. If you come looking for a sanctuary, a place to truly unwind from your normal stresses, you're going to be delighted. Mariah and her late partner built this place up over the years since they bought the property in the 70s. Now she keeps it going with a small staff who all love their jobs. If you tune into that ex-hippie vibe, you'll find yourself in the right mental and physical space. My husband and I have stayed here 4 times over several years, in the Skyloft and the Sunset House. All of the lodgings are well kept, cozy and comfortable. No TV, no phones, but wifi if you really need it. Who needs TV when you can watch the birds and the sunlight on the lake? (The lake is quite low after years of drought, but that means fewer power boats to disturb the quiet.) The meals and bodywork are both worth the extra cost. Mariah's massages are fantastic, and the MT who subs when she's not available (I've forgotten her name) is also excellent. The food is all organic and home cooked, with home-grown microgreens with lunch and dinner. The only reason not to eat here is if you're planning to go out in Burnet or at Canyon of the Eagles, up the road. If you don't get the meals here, there are not a lot of other options, and no cooking facilities in the room.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Just what we wanted My wife and I had been looking for dog friendly places to take a few days off and decided to give Rainbow Hearth a try. We took our two Golden Retrievers and booked the Tree Yurt for three nights. We had a wonderful time and what a relaxing vacation for all of us. Everyone was so nice and Rainbow Hearth is such a pleasant environment. We spent our time hiking, playing at the lake, relaxing on the balcony, and enjoying the beautiful environment. Rainbow Hearth is very well taken care of and designed to let one relax in a low key environment. The meals are nutritious and tasty. They are designed to provide a fresh, wholesome diet to aid your relaxation. The Tree Yurt is a real treat and provided us a private getaway that was just perfect. The Yurt sits up on the side of a hill and you are surrounded by flowering trees. We loved it and will return. Rainbow Hearth features so many great views of the lake and plenty of room for the guests to roam and enjoy nature. There are a number of interesting sights to see in the area on easy day trips. A great place to get away from it all. Close enough to Austin yet far enough away. A fantastic drive to get there too. (For me, the best way to get here is 1431 to Marble Falls, with the requisite stop at Flat Creek Estate for refreshments, then up to Burnet and onward.) No TV, no clocks, no stress. There is Wifi so you're not completely cut off, but you'll find yourself off the net more than on. Sleeping in is encouraged. Probably not a great place for kids due to lack of TV. Activities within/around Burnet could help but really this place is for the "Big Kids" to unwind/reset. We stayed in the Sky Loft; lots of room, best views, nice little patio for nighttime star viewing, great breezes. We looked at all the other rooms too; they all are nice. The accommodations aren't 5 star NYC type, but nice and relaxing. The food is simple but tasty. Majority is organic products. Mariah grows her own sprouts/microgreens for the salads and they are wonderful. The meals were customized per our requests, based on what she had on hand, which is a great touch. The bodywork. You must have the bodywork. I'm not sure how else to describe it. Just get it. Mariah has a great touch and the power tools are the bomb. (It was my first massage, but I've developed a new addiction I think. And guys, if you've never had one, Mariah is probably the best person to start with; very calm/trustworthy. Don't worry about having your Man Card pulled or your hairy back.) The grounds are great. There is a nice little hike up to medicine rock as well as down to the lake. No flip flops though; you need something sturdier. We loved hearing the lake water lapping on the rocks and the wind chimes that are scattered across the grounds. Can't wait to go back.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

You also have a private patio in the woods off of the bedroom as well as another deck with lake views. The room was super clean and very comfortable. As others have said, the food is terrific. We particularly enjoyed the black bean soup and the homemade chocolate really is to die for! Healing Retreat If you are looking for a cozy, comfortable, healing, unique getaway...this is an amazing place. I was looking for an opportunity to get away, be alone in nature (but not so alone someone couldn't make me meals :) and a place for contemplation. What I found was an amazing, comfortable, quiet healing retreat. Proprietor Mariah was the perfect hostess: knowledgeable, kind, accommodating to a restricted diet, an amazing cook and by far the best body worker I've ever experienced. The beautiful decks, the cozy garden patios, the gorgeous whirlpool (one of my favorite parts -- laying under the skylight, looking up at the blue sky and clouds in a great, private atrium after a 90 minute bodywork session), the hikes up to a healing "medicine rock" on the property, the 2 cats and sweet dog, the all-organic meals - all add to the magical, funky, spiritual charm of the place. I plan to come back at least once a year...maybe more!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Wonderful, Isolated Retreat with Great Food! For my birthday weekend retreat, my boyfriend and I totally enjoyed our stay. Rainbow Hearth was exactly what I wanted to get away. It was quiet, lush with lovely nature, comfortable. The bonus of a 24/7 open kitchen with snacks and organic dining was perfect. Breakfasts were abundant with omelets, smoothies, and whatever else you might want, unlimited. Dinner was also plentiful with options for my vegetarian boyfriend. The dessert sugar-free chocolate was to die for. Another bonus was the grounds - isolated, a short walk to the lake with a picnic table and swing by the lake. And a short hike to the sacred Indian grounds. THAT was really special. I loved the visits from the on-site cats and dog Sunny. The whole experience was like visiting a relative's home. We would come back to visit, loved the treehouse-like environment and seclusion. Unfortunately, we did not get to enjoy the hot tub. "In-the-buff" hot-tubbing was encouraged and my the time the spa was free, there were already eight visitors who had visited. Not so appealing by then. Note that this place is not four-star, don't expect daily housekeeping, to be able to lock your room, or spotless cleanliness. Even with window and door screens, bugs abound. Just a sacrifice for the wonderful experience. One thing though - the online registration form included a section to note if our stay was for a special occasion. I noted that it was my birthday, and I mentioned it to the proprietor on the phone. Yet there was no acknowledgment of my birthday at all, even verbally. I certainly didn't expect anything special. But why ask then? And apparently, you get preferential treatment if you buy more meals and bodywork. On our departure, another couple, who had bodywork and more meals, were invited for lunch and as long as they wanted to stay, while we were simply handed a bill with a request for tipping 30% of services. I tried to book bodywork, but the schedule was full. And we didn't dine there for all our meals, because it was our first time in this part of the hill country and we wanted to explore everything. All this said, we would still come back. And I hope my feedback will result in better treatment for other guests.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

left rejuvenated I took my mom here for her 60th birthday. We stayed in the Blue Heron Suite. It was perfect! It is a 2 room suite. The bedroom had a wonderful sleep number bed with wonderfully soft sheets. There is a private veranda off the bedroom that has a beautiful view of the lake. (The lake is rising, but still low. It is still beautiful.) The sitting room also has a gorgeous view of the lake. The weather was perfect to open the windows and listen to the waves and feel the breeze. The suite as well as the entire retreat was spotless. The food was wonderful. Everything was organic, and you can feel good about everything you eat here. Mariah is an awesome cook, and made the most delicious meals. The website lists example menus and gives you a great idea of what to expect. However, the surprising part is how delicious healthy can be with Mariah in the kitchen. Mom and I are both very pleased with our bodywork sessions. Enjoyed Living in the Moment! This is not your standard recreation playground. It is close to the water recreations sites; unfortunately, the drought makes it difficult to enjoy much of that; but, that is not why my husband and I visited Rainbow Hearth. It is just what we were looking for, a place to replenish the body and the psyche. Mariah offers thoughtful and effective bodywork that leaves the body energized, feeling almost re-built. She reads people well, both their physical and emotional makeup, and designs their treatment accordingly. Lodging is comfortable and cozy, with sizes ranged for singles, for couples, for families. The food is simply delicious. Mariah’s omelets are to die for. Her sprouts-based salad bar is a meal in itself and is quite addictive. Even the water is delicious.(I’m not kidding about that.) It is important to tell her if you have any special dietary needs. She took our needs into account when creating the daily menu. Her team includes Sunny, Choco, and Nugsy, three of the most wonderful animals you will have the privilege to meet, and who know what their specific duties entail. They do their jobs very well. My husband and I left feeling relaxed and healthier than we’ve felt in years, and knowing that we will be back in a few months for a refresher. And, oh yes, climb to the top of Medicine Rock, but wait until you get to the top before you turn around to see a spectacular view of the Lake.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

The bodywork massage was excellent and my body feel so much better. She helped to remove stress and tension. I feel so much lighter and energetic.Posted on Yelp![]()

I've been to Rainbow Hearth twice now and both experiences were fantastic. It is the perfect place to decompress from the stress of finals and work. The property is vast and peaceful, with lots of nooks to explore and have a quiet moment to yourself. Mariah is a fabulous caretaker--her hospitality and warmth are unmatched! The Sunset Guest House is a beautiful two-bedroom space, with a balcony overlooking Lake Buchanan. Catching the sunrise and set are bookends to a fabulous stay. You won't find a television here, but there is plenty of nature to take in--the scenery is vast and beautiful. Perhaps my favorite part of RH, however, is the delectable eats that Mariah serves up. Breakfast features a wide spread of granolas and jams, as well as fruit smoothies and omelets made to order. Lunch and dinner feature micro-green salads, made from homegrown sprouts. I dream of these salads; they are really that delicious. Lunch also consists of fish or chicken dishes, while dinner surrounds a hearty soup with cornbread or other side. Homemade chocolate acts as the perfect compliment for dessert. Though I have not tried any of the spa treatments that Mariah has to offer, I am sure they would not disappoint. The surrounding area lends itself to many activities during your stay. There are plenty of water sports and tours, long river cruises, local wineries, and parks that surround RH. I would also recommend Longhorn Caverns and Cypress Valley Canopy Tours as well (though the drive is a little longer that some might like). Believe me, one visit to RH and you'll be just as hooked. I can hardly wait for next summer!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

My husband and I visited Rainbow Hearth to celebrate our wedding anniversary -- and to just get the hell out of town. It was well worth the 4 hours that it took to get there. We got the couples package, which included our meals and a bodywork session for each of us. If you visit Rainbow Hearth you NEED to schedule a bodywork session with Mariah. This isn't just a massage. It changes your life. Rainbow Hearth was beautiful and welcoming and just perfect. And it's pet friendly!! Our dogs had a blast. I can't wait to visit again.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

I loved it here! I absolutely loved it here. I have never had a more relaxing stay. The room was beautiful and the scenery breathtaking. If you are beyond stressed out and need some time to relax this is the place to do it. The bodywork sessions were amazing. I put all my stress into my body and Mariah worked it all out. It feels like a weight lifted off of me. Coming here gives you a reality check on taking care of your body. The food was healthy and delicious. The staff are wonderful and accommodating. I will definitely come back and tell everyone I know what they are missing out on.Load more
