We have visited Rainbow Hearth 3 times since 2022 and we will be coming back as often as we can. Mariah is amazing and provides the space and to rest, relax and unwind from busy schedules. We highly recommend a massage and staying at least three days to really absorb the full benefits of being nourished and rested. I am gluten free and non dairy and I have not had any issues with the food Mariah prepares because she personally takes an individual interest in each guest’s needs. It is such a comfort to know that I can eat and NOT have any digestive issues while I rest. Another plus is we are able to bring our dogs instead of having to board them or find pet care. Our dogs are very well behaved and they are a joy to have with us. I would recommend finding other plans for your pups if they are lively or not well trained because this is a place for rest and not dog training. The other guests will thank you for keeping this a peaceful location as it is intended to be. We also got to snuggle with Mariah’s sweet pup Bella, who is just a lovely little soul that just adds to the charm of Rainbow Hearth.

This place is magical, beautiful, special! I loved staying there. It helped me recharge and find hope. I received two massages from Mariah (who is absolutely delightful, and so knowledgable). The food was delicious and helped me feel full and healthy. This place is great to go with your friends, your spouse, and even by yourself! You will not regret it. Thank you Mariah for being so gracious and kind to me.

Peaceful, magical get-away! This was my third stay at Rainbow Hearth and first time to bring my college-age daughter with me for a little mother/daughter get away. Rainbow Hearth is my go to place to rest, recharge and take a break from the real world and I was excited to share this special place with my daughter. As always, Mariah is a perfect hostess and everything was beyond expectations. We stayed in the Sunset Guest House and it was clean, comfortable and had extraordinary views from the windows and porch. Food was delicious, healthy and filling. The hot tub is fabulous. Weather was beautiful for hiking and exploring. My favorite part of our stay was the body work. Mariah is a truly gifted healer and her massages are the best I’ve ever experienced. There is a sense of peacefulness from the moment you step onto the property, and a warm, welcoming aura that envelopes you throughout your stay. It’s magical, really, and I’ll definitely come back again.

Best couples retreat place ever. My wife and I had the most relaxing time. Great food, great host, beautiful scenery. If you are wanting to de-stress, enjoy nature, and get the best massage of your life, then look no further. Mariah is a real treasure and she has created the best atmosphere you can imagine. Bella (photo) is one of the sweetest dogs ever and loved going on hikes with us. Also, Medicine Rock (photo) is a very special place. This was the first of many trips for us to this enchanted sanctuary.

Family gathering for the weekend was very satisfying. We were well prepared for the experience as the website and communications were well designed and delivered. I have had the privilege of visiting several B&B over the past few years and I believe our visit with Rainbow Hearth was the most exceptional. The facility location and design will provide opportunity to exercise muscles you may not have even realized you pocess. This is as close to a Natural retreat as I have ever experienced without backwoods camping. Meals served were very tasty, I recommend you try the omelet for breakfast. Our group included a limited mobility guest and Mariah was exceptionably accommodating. We always enjoy the ability to vacation with our four legged family members, not always easy to find a location that will allow this so thank you so much Mariah! Massage was requested for one of the family members who found the experience satisfying as well as enlightening as Mariah located knots of pressure before unknown. Tips for visitors: 1. This is a Sanctuary & Retreat - Entertainment can be very easily located; we enjoyed many hikes and the views are spectacular. We played games for hours in the dining room. We did not miss the televisions. If you wish to exercise your own mental capacity and simply relax, visit Rainbow Hearth. The architecture of the facility and library can also provide mental exercise, a great variety. If you wish to be pampered, I would suggest locating resort that specializes in this activity. 2. There is refrigeration available for those with medical needs, limited space. A simple discussion with Mariah will provide solutions. We brought our own coolers as well. 3. I shared the meal plan with our guest prior to our stay, if you have picky eaters you may need to find other sources. I can say with all our picky eaters, no one was left hungry after a meal. Meals were well prepared, quite tasty and I had no doubts that we were fed Healthy meals. 4. After reading a couple of the negative reviews I want to add something here. I found Mariah to be an intelligent, no nonsense hostess. I felt that she was pleasant to converse with and active listening to be a key skill to exercise. My experience is that she will help you find solutions to your Needs for the stay if properly presented. Rooms were very clean, orderly and provided for all our needs. Beds were "Sleep Number" and therefore adjustable to most sleeper requirements.

We've been twice. This is a place that encourages you to disconnect from technology, eat clean, hike and sit in nature. The food is organic, simple, and flavorful. Salmon, chicken, or cod are common lunch and dinner options. A small omelet or smoothie at breakfast. Lunch and supper will likely be accompanied by a fresh microgreen salad grown on site with a variety of toppings: jicama, tomato, onion, peppers, carrots, sunflower seeds, almonds, raisins, craisins, and 6 or more organic salad dressings. There is usually a rice and quinoa side, a vegetable (sweet potato, cauliflower and brussel sprouts), and some kind of soup (lentil dollah, blackbean). Snacks of yogurt, granola, apples, oranges, bananas, three kinds of toast, almond butter, and jellies and popcorn available 24 hours a day. My husband loved the massage--he likes deep tissue--I found it overwhelming but prefer light Swedish massage and a shorter massage. I did feel better the next day. On property hikes are short, but have lot of vertical challenges and there are many quiet places that encourage you to just be still and absorb nature. We visited about ten years apart and both times were great. We stayed in the Blue Heron and it looks brand new (Dec 2022). We plan to go again. There are also many other hiking areas near by. The food is served family style and caters to vegetarian/nutrient dense eating. Think more meditation hippy than yuppie experience. It is a place to focus on health and healing, not pampering and catering to whims. Sleep number beds, big fluffy towels, organic soaps and hair products. The 35 pictures that were available December 2022 are representative of the experience we had this month.

I chose Rainbow Hearth for my second solo retreat in as many years. I spent 6 nights in the Sky Loft room during late April and it was a beautiful accommodation with a great view of the lake. My stay gave me the opportunity to disengage from the requirements of my life and to quiet down. I was nourished with good food and my only responsibility was to show up for regular meals. Mariah and her husband have continuously added to the Sanctuary during the 40+ years since they bought the land. Everything is very well maintained and full of small details throughout the property that add to the charm. It is obvious how much of their lives have been invested in growing such a health oriented space. I started with a massage to work out some of the tension that I arrived with and took a couple of visits to the really beautiful Jacuzzi room. Afternoons down by the water reading as the sun set and watching the fish at the shore line was a great way to unwind. The quiet time was beneficial in helping me reflect on the changes in my life with semi-retirement and where I might apply my energy moving forward.

Retreat of the Best Kind! A friend extended a last minute invite to decompress & get away from the city. This property offered all that and more! Situated at Lake Buchanan in the Hill Country this cozy & exceptionally clean property did not dissapoint. No televisions, clocks or radio's allow you to relax and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. My friend and I weren't able to take advantage of the inclusive meals due to other planned activities except one dinner and one breakfast. Healthful & delicious, I doubt many restaurants can even compare to the delightful 5 course meal we enjoyed. There is much to do on property, swimming, fishing, kayaking & hiking at your doorstep. Though we didn't plan for a massage, everyone we met said that Mariah's massages are the best that can be found. We enjoyed a nearby winery & about an hour drive to Fredricksburg for fresh peaches & a little shopping there is much to do nearby but take my advice and unplug and be pampered at this lovely escape! We are already planning a return trip with all of our best friends who deserve a break from the ratrace! I think Mariah's chocolates are the best kept secret, if you get one for dessert consider it a very lucky day! I look very forward to returning soon!~

My visit at The Rainbow Hearth Sanctuary was simply magical. Starting with the smiling and welcoming face of the owner Mariah, through all the vibrant rainbow colors of the home like facilities, organic salads and delicious fish & soups cooked fresh everyday, expert massages with surprisingly incredible power tools! Mariah is jack of all trades❤️❤️❤️ Life changing experiences. Invigorating energy surrounds the land the sanctuary is built on. Can not wait to go back in May and hug Mariah and her doggie Sunny! Amazing Getaway From Austin I stayed at the retreat the second weekend in January and had a fantastic experience. I was looking to get out of town away from work and the family for a weekend to do a little meditation and just generally relax. I stayed in the yurt and had all of my meals there. Mariah was a wonderful host. Her food was great and made with healthy ingredients, some of which were actually grown on the property. I also scheduled a body work session that was a unique massage that incorporates some cool breathing exercises with it. Its not a typical massage, but in a good way. There is a very large jacuzzi in the spa that compliments the body work session well. The property itself is located right on the lake and built up a hillside that is nicely landscaped and peppered with pine trees that were planted years ago. This made for a really great sound as the wind was blowing through. The yurt was very large and clean and stayed warm despite the cold weather outside. There is also a private bath house with a large 2 person soaking tub. The king size Sleep Number bed is also a really nice touch. The property was very quiet so it was great for meditation and any other activity where a quiet environment is ideal. I am already looking forward to my next visit. Although I was solo, it would also be ideal for a romantic weekend. I couldn't recommend it more highly!

I travel afar to find delightful places and who knew that a few hours away was this retreat. I don’t know if I just get beamed up to middle Earth or landed in the magical kingdom. In any event it is sublime here where I feel transported to somewhere transcendent, a sort of Santa Fe meets Big Sur atmosphere of Nature and nurture, with stupendous views and walking paths marked with multiple stops each with its own vantage point and seating. Everything is selected for comfort and soul nourishment, even the food, especially the unique salads that I won’t forget even if I can’t replicate. My problems seem to disappear upon arrival and my perspective changed. Not to be missed is the privilege of a massage from the owner Mariah, a wise woman and healer whose magic keeps this place moored, and I think that massage was the final thing that really delivered me to heaven. I have felt rejuvenated and restored from it like no other. This place really is a retreat for the soul! Those looking to party hearty need not apply. But I believe I will return to this place again and again —which in my mind now I will remember as the ‘Over the Rainbow ‘ Hearth Sanctuary and Retreat.

This is a wonderful relaxing and rejuvenating place to stay. I stayed with a friend in Sky Loft and we also have stayed in the Garden Cottage on a previous occasion. The food prepared by Mariah, the owner is fresh and delicious. Everyone loves the freshly-grown sprout salads. My friend and I both scheduled massages which were fabulous, and we took advantage of the hot tub both evenings! Some of the rooms at Rainbow Hearth are also dog-friendly, and my dog, Fred, also had a fun time. He loved being able to sniff around off-leash down near the lake and on the trail at the top of the ridge. We can't wait to go back!!

Life Unplugged For my 65th birthday, I was looking for somewhere to go for a few days that would allow my SO and me to totally unplug from our stress-filled jobs. Rainbow Hearth Sanctuary and Retreat Center was and is that place. From the moment we arrived and Scott walked us up the stone steps to the Garden Cottage through a "kaleidoscope" of butterflies and on a tour of our "sleep away camp for grownups", we could feel our shoulders relax and a sense of peacefulness begin to set in. It was absolutely more beautiful and relaxing than we could have imagined. Mariah, the proprietor, set the tone for our long weekend with her unparalleled hospitality and amazingly sweet disposition, making certain all understood, the goal was to leave Rainbow Hearth more relaxed and in touch with ourselves and our spirits than when we arrived. I told her at breakfast on our 2nd day, I'd dreamed for the first time in months...an indication of exactly HOW relaxed I'd become. The "magic" of Rainbow Hearth worked wonders. From the delicious organic meals to the amazing Body Work massages to hikes up to Medicine Rock and down to Lake Buchanan to the Hot Tub...well, I could go on and on about this paradise in the Texas Hill Country, but you really need to experience it for yourself. We're already planning our return!

Very peaceful Mariah was very nice and friendly. Thanks for shared your beautiful home to us. Gorgeous lake view. We stayed at Blue herron room. Love the purple walls. Our daughter loves to explore the path in the property. I love to seat at the private porch read book and listen to birds singing with the lake view in front. Enjoyed the bodywork massage too. No TV but free wifi (happy face). The organic healthy meals made by owner Mariah was good. We didnt have to drive 30 mins to get food.

We spent 2 nights in the Sky Loft and the accommodations were perfect. The meals were filling, healthy and delicious. Everyone was friendly and over the top helpful. We did the massages and they were wonderful as well. We plan to make this resort one of our regular weekend go to spots. Loved the peace and quite and serene setting. And bonus for us, it's dog friendly. If you are looking for a place to relax, unplug and just chill, this is it. Take a walk in the woods or down to the lake. Bring a book. Enjoy the fresh air. We loved it and we'll be back.

Special Place & Kind People Mariah was more than empathetic to our needs, and went out of her way to ensure our great stay. My husband & I wanted a reprieve from our stressful work lives involving computers & high-tech gadgets, so we came here for our anniversary. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by Mariah & Scott, who were both down-to-earth & friendly. We also met kindhearted Brenda, who gave us both bodywork. The massage really helped my husband, so he opted for an additional session. I could go on-and-on about how much we loved the staff, but I'll sum it up by saying that all of the raving reviews are absolutely true. If you love what was written on RH's website, and have an intuition that it's the place for you, follow your instinct - you won't be disappointed. There's a few things some folks should be conscious of before booking. The rest of this review is for you... Don't bring children unless they are well-behaved, respectful of adults & mindful of their surroundings. This isn't place for wild children. The vibe here is serene, calm, introspective...A place to tune in to the sound of wind against the cliffs, birds in the sky, the bullfrog in the pond...a place to read, take naps, sit by the water, gaze at the stars, meditate...If you're looking for a family fun adventure, maybe look elsewhere? (Read: Your "inside voice" even when you are outside, is an appropriate decibel level.) I love babies & kids, but don't appreciate it when the loud & obnoxious ones are unconscious of another's personal space, & that goes for adults, too. Know that many guests visit RH to escape from the abrasiveness of citylife, & don't want their peaceful stay sabotaged. Is your child polite? Mild mannered? Seldomly bored? Content to do nothing? Then, they would make for an excellent guest, & likely, so would you. The food, service, staff, accommodations, beds, amenities, spa room, scenic view, bodywork, etc. all receive 5 stars!!!!! Other notes: *The food is particularly great and everything your body needs...But, this review is written by a modern "hippie"ish woman, who loves the natural flavors of simple ingredients and organic cooking. There is plenty to eat - you won't leave the dining room hungry. *We brought our dog, who is young & easily excitable. He did well for the most part, but next time, I may not bring him, so that I can have one less distraction while I am there relaxing. *I brought way too much stuff. You don't need a hair dryer, makeup, or multiple changes of clothes. No one will be judging your appearance. *For ultimate restoration- Just stay on property the entire time. Don't try to squeeze in excursions, unless perhaps you are from out of state and want to see attractions. If you live in Austin or nearby, you can do the boat cruise & cave tour at any time. *If you want wine or junk food, bring it. You won't want to venture out for this stuff once you're settled in. If you can, avoid bringing it all together, as your body will benefit from a gentle cleanse. *Go during the cooler months when you can maximize your experience outdoors w/nature. It's Texas, after all, and we have ovenlike climate in the summer (even at night) & ruthless mosquitoes. Rainbow Hearth is doing everything right!!!!! Please don't spoil this paradise by coming here ill-researched and unaware.

This place is AMAZING! The drive in was beautiful, but we were admittedly a bit nervous about what to expect from something so far from "life". When we arrived and found our way to check in, our fears were all relieved. Everything was clean, updated, and refreshing! The owner showed us around the property and took us to our room. The view from our room was awesome, and the massage was heavenly! Everything is private, except the family style meals, which were ALL to die for! Everything was fresh, organic, and a lot she grew in her own garden. This is definitely the place to go if you're looking to disappear for a weekend and have amazing healthy meals. There are so many other great things to say about this place. It is definitely a place you should visit at least once!

Much more than a Bed and Breakfast Our Valentines weekend stay at Rainbow Hearth started when we pulled into the driveway and were greeted by friendly "Shadow" and "Sunshine" the resident 4 legged welcoming committee, followed by Scott the human caretaker. We stayed in Blue Heron suite with the wrap around deck, but had the opportunity to visit the other suites while they were empty. The yurt looked the most interesting, but we were very happy in Blue Heron. Arriving on Thurs., we basically had the place to ourselves and we enjoyed the spa each evening following delicious, nutritious breakfast and lunch and dinner. I highly recommend taking the meals package because the location is fairly remote, one would have to drive about 20-30 minutes to anything resembling a restaurant/cafe. Besides the location reason, the food was fantastic! We had bodywork done by Brenda and I highly recommend her. She worked out knots with hot rocks and other special techniques (not your typical massage, for sure). There are well marked trails for hiking to Medicine Rock, as well as down to the lakeshore where we caught 3 fish. On our final breakfast, we were offered an omelet made from a freshly laid goose egg. Simply wonderful! Rainbow Hearth is more than a Bed and Breakfast. It is a sanctuary, a retreat, a chance to see stars at night, and a place to enjoy the silence and beautiful scenery of the Texas hill country.

We visited Rainbow Hearth Sanctuary for our 5th anniversary in mid-October. We stayed in the oh-so-fun tree house yurt. That's right a tree house yurt! Technically its a deck built up into the trees with the yurt on the deck and a separate bathroom with a walk in 2 person soaker tub and a skylight to the stars. We loved the accommodations obviously. My 6'7" husband fit no problem in the yurt, only had to duck his head to get in the door. The food was awesome, all cooked by the awesome Mariah- also the owner. We did not originally plan to meet all of our meals there, but it was so good, there was no reason to leave. Food is served family style, everyone eats the same thing, just let Mariah know if you can't have anything- the sprout salad is fabulous. The bodywork by both Mariah and Brenda was awesome, I felt safe and relaxed and they didn't feel the need to beat me up to loosen my muscles. Instead of the normal pain you feel after a massage when you were tense or tight, we actually came out feeling almost lightheaded we were so relaxed. Aaaand the next day no pain! This super cute place only has a few rooms so you know you are getting great attention while you are there. It is right on the mouth of the Colorado River, you can walk/hike down to the river. The water is way down, so its not very deep anywhere right now and there is a bit more of a hike to get to the water than it is to get to the boathouse. Coming to visit here was like coming to visit family, it was very welcoming, relaxing and just what we needed to get away from it all. This was our 1st trip away from our 1.5 year old, and we were happy and relaxed enough that we could not stress. This place is out in the middle of nowhere essentially, if you come here be prepared to relax and enjoy nature, you really will leave it all behind here. We loved it and hope to return sometime.

It's a sanctuary, not a hotel If you come here expecting a hotel, with activities, amenities, and services, you're going to be disappointed. If you come looking for a sanctuary, a place to truly unwind from your normal stresses, you're going to be delighted. Mariah and her late partner built this place up over the years since they bought the property in the 70s. Now she keeps it going with a small staff who all love their jobs. If you tune into that ex-hippie vibe, you'll find yourself in the right mental and physical space. My husband and I have stayed here 4 times over several years, in the Skyloft and the Sunset House. All of the lodgings are well kept, cozy and comfortable. No TV, no phones, but wifi if you really need it. Who needs TV when you can watch the birds and the sunlight on the lake? (The lake is quite low after years of drought, but that means fewer power boats to disturb the quiet.) The meals and bodywork are both worth the extra cost. Mariah's massages are fantastic, and the MT who subs when she's not available (I've forgotten her name) is also excellent. The food is all organic and home cooked, with home-grown microgreens with lunch and dinner. The only reason not to eat here is if you're planning to go out in Burnet or at Canyon of the Eagles, up the road. If you don't get the meals here, there are not a lot of other options, and no cooking facilities in the room.

What a place to just "chill!" My wife and I needed a weekend to just get away and we found it - Rainbow Hearth was the answer. Mariah provided excellent massage therapy in a unique way - to tell you would spoil the experience. The food was excellent. No TV, radio, or phones just quite, relaxing atmosphere. I recommend the Sky Loft room and if you can work it in Perisso's winery is a must.

Amazing place to unplug and connect with yourself I have just returned from a week at Rainbow Hearth. I went in stressed, tightly wound and unable to turn off my mind. I departed relaxed and extremely content with my body, my mind, and my sleep. More importantly,I've come home with the tools necessary to prevent some of the challenges that got me in such a screwed up place in the first place! I cannot say enough about Mariah. Her passion for rainbow hearth shows in all that she does. She is a gracious hostess, an attentive chef (the micro green salad is truly spectacular and the chocolate dessert is mind numbingly good) and an incredible body technician. Honestly, calling it a massage is such an understatement...her work is truly out of the ordinary! I'm fortunate to be a two hour drive away...this will be an annual treat for me!

Visit the website for excellent directions. As the site says, normal GPS systems may misguide you, but the explicit directions won't. Some of the most beautiful scenery around, and the most peaceful, restful place I have found so far. I am a repeat customer (several times now) and tend to make this a place I visit every 6 months! The food is organic, balanced, amazing, and prepared with the touch of someone who is genuinely a servant at heart. Her 30+ years of massage therapy, along with her intuitive touch, brings healing and rejuvenation. I highly recommend Rainbow Hearth.

A great place to get away from it all. Close enough to Austin yet far enough away. A fantastic drive to get there too. (For me, the best way to get here is 1431 to Marble Falls, with the requisite stop at Flat Creek Estate for refreshments, then up to Burnet and onward.) No TV, no clocks, no stress. There is Wifi so you're not completely cut off, but you'll find yourself off the net more than on. Sleeping in is encouraged. Probably not a great place for kids due to lack of TV. Activities within/around Burnet could help but really this place is for the "Big Kids" to unwind/reset. We stayed in the Sky Loft; lots of room, best views, nice little patio for nighttime star viewing, great breezes. We looked at all the other rooms too; they all are nice. The accommodations aren't 5 star NYC type, but nice and relaxing. The food is simple but tasty. Majority is organic products. Mariah grows her own sprouts/microgreens for the salads and they are wonderful. The meals were customized per our requests, based on what she had on hand, which is a great touch. The bodywork. You must have the bodywork. I'm not sure how else to describe it. Just get it. Mariah has a great touch and the power tools are the bomb. (It was my first massage, but I've developed a new addiction I think. And guys, if you've never had one, Mariah is probably the best person to start with; very calm/trustworthy. Don't worry about having your Man Card pulled or your hairy back.) The grounds are great. There is a nice little hike up to medicine rock as well as down to the lake. No flip flops though; you need something sturdier. We loved hearing the lake water lapping on the rocks and the wind chimes that are scattered across the grounds. Can't wait to go back.

Wonderfully Relaxing Getaway My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful stay here! We had the Blue Heron Suite which I highly recommend! Lovely and spacious and very private yet so convenient to the main kitchen/dining room and library areas. It does feel that you are sleeping in the treetops and you have a gorgeous view of the lake sitting at your table in your living area or from one of the two comfy recliners. You also have a private patio in the woods off of the bedroom as well as another deck with lake views. The room was super clean and very comfortable. As others have said, the food is terrific. We particularly enjoyed the black bean soup and the homemade chocolate really is to die for! The grounds are wonderful as well with several nice areas to sit and enjoy the lovely views and gentle breezes and even fish if you like. I got the massage also and loved it. Rainbow Hearth really is a sanctuary in every sense of the word, Mariah is an amazing hostess and has thought of everything to make your stay a memorable one. We are planning to return in the autumn, I can't wait.

Get away from it all We had a very nice stay at Rainbow Hearth. If you want to escape the rat race and just relax, this is a very nice place to visit. The place was very quiet & peaceful with wind chimes blowing and beautiful views of Lake Buchanan (which is very low at this time). They have the best hot tub and the best bodywork massage. Mariah is the hostess who wears many hats. The best one is her chef hat. We had very good organically cooked meals, wonderful salads & great breakfasts--wonderful cook. Oh, and the very sweetest, friendliest dog (Sunny) enjoys your company! We will go back in the future.

Great place to get away Visiting Rainbow Hearth was by far one of the best decisions I've made. We stayed in the treehouse. I loved it there and feel so rejuvenated. The food was great. The bodywork massage was excellent and my body feel so much better. She helped to remove stress and tension. I feel so much lighter and energetic.

My husband and I visited Rainbow Hearth to celebrate our wedding anniversary -- and to just get the hell out of town. It was well worth the 4 hours that it took to get there. We got the couples package, which included our meals and a bodywork session for each of us. If you visit Rainbow Hearth you NEED to schedule a bodywork session with Mariah. This isn't just a massage. It changes your life. Rainbow Hearth was beautiful and welcoming and just perfect. And it's pet friendly!! Our dogs had a blast. I can't wait to visit again.

Mariah Wentworth at Rainbow Hearth Sanctuary makes this A Retreat Tradition! From the easy to follow directions that I downloaded from her website, to being greeted by Mariah, the owner, when we pulled in and asked, 'What do I need to make the most of my visit', I was already unwinding, knowing I was going to be taken care of. Our bedroom, The Sky Loft, had an endless view of the lake. The hawks circling above only gave us another sign that healing was on its way. The beds were soft, the towels thick and her special drinking water was available immediately. Her home grown organic salads fueled us for the rest of the journey on her grounds: a walk to the lake, a personal ceremony at the medicine rock but the best yet a massage from Mariah and a soak in the hot tub that shook out the old scars and tensions from the school work year and welcome the new beginnings of the summer. I'm grateful to my friend and her husband, who found this sacred place!
