What to Expect
FAQs
What should I expect in a session with Mariah?
Each session begins with a discussion about issues that are affecting you and that you would like addressed. Following your consultation, you will enjoy either a 90-minute or 120-minute bodywork session that addresses your entire body and also targets “trouble areas” identified in your consultation and/or revealed once bodywork is underway.
Can I get a shorter session?
90 minutes is the minimum time needed to address the whole body and have time to work on “trouble areas.” Most people do not relax enough to allow for deeper work until an hour or so into the session, so the last 30 minutes is often the most beneficial.
How is bodywork different from massage?
The terms bodywork and massage are frequently used interchangeably. However, there is a distinction. The term massage brings to mind relaxation and pampering, and a person can become a licensed masseuse in Texas with 500 hours of classroom and apprenticeship. Bodywork literally works the body and is far more therapeutic, requiring years of experience to master. Many techniques may be used to deeply affect the body/mind matrix, awakening and enhancing your inherent abilities to heal and rejuvenate.
Soreness
What to Expect
Will I be sore afterwards?
Most people have little to no soreness after their sessions. Mariah’s techniques allow her to work deeply in the tissues without causing pain and soreness. Most people feel very relaxed and describe themselves as feeling light or “floating” after their session.
Bodywork is a collaborative process. To prepare you to be a skillful receiver, Mariah will coach you on breathing and focusing techniques you can use during the session to help you stay present and receptive. Simply by breathing deeply, you will change your blood oxygen levels, begin producing more alpha brain waves and lower your production of stress-related hormones. When breath work is combined with bodywork, the results are greatly enhanced.
Additionally, soak in Rainbow Hearth’s hot tub after your bodywork session or relax in a warm bath to prevent soreness and stay relaxed. Remember to drink plenty of water after your session, as it helps eliminate the fluids and toxins that have been stirred up. Listen to your body! Be gentle with yourself, both physically and emotionally, and allow the benefits to settle into your system.
